Student Scholars

Student Scholars is a program designed to help students from middle to high school reach their full potential through a mentorship with local leaders in our community, Daviess County, Indiana.  Students in rural areas often don't have access to the kind of guidance and support that can help them succeed in school. Mentors can provide a listening ear, offer advice, and help students stay motivated. The Student Scholars Program matches students with local mentors from our community, including retired police officers, social workers, business owners, and educators. These mentors will provide one-on-one guidance and support, helping their student navigate through challenges of middle or high school. Mentors will help students explore different college and career options, and develop the skills they need to be successful. These students are our future leaders, and we need to give them the tools they need to succeed.

Tutoring

Students can be enrolled in tutoring programs that work best for them

School supplies

Students can receive financial support to purchase school supplies throughout the school year.

Extracurricular activities

Students must participate in one extracurricular activity. Don’t worry, HHI mentors will help find a club, sport, or activity that will best fit with the student’s interest, from cooking, to swimming, so sports.

Mentorship

Each month consists of fun activities in group and individual settings with our qualified mentors. Students will have the opportunity for meal outings, report card reviews, goal setting, homework help, college visits, and more.

Engage their
growing curiosity

It all begins with having resources available. Every child has different needs, and HHI will work alongside the student to make sure those resources are available. An HHI mentorship can provide a way for the student to have extra support in academics, extracurricular activities, and social relationships throughout their years in middle and high-school.
